Carnivorous Plant Care Guide
General Info
Carnivorous plants typically grow in nutrient-deficient swamps and bogs.
There are many types of carnivorous plants! A few of the most common include the venus fly trap, pitcher plant, and sundew.
Soil
To mimic their natural environment, it is best to keep carnivorous plants in a low-nutrient substrate.
Examples include sphagnum and peat moss.
Water
Keep the soil wet at all times. Carnivorous plants do not like to dry out!
Some carnivorous plants like to sit in water (ex: sundew, sarracenia)
Fertilizer
DO NOT FERTILIZE! Carnivorous plants get their nutrients from the bugs they trap.
Fertilizing your carnivorous plant will do it more harm than good.
Light
Carnivorous plants prefer bright, warm conditions.
